Thinking of starting a project but don’t know where to start this guide will lead you through the process and give you an idea of what to expect at each different stage.

Starting a project

Give Gostwick Architecture a call or contact us through our contact form, from there we will arrange a site visit free of charge to go through and discuss options with you and give you advice on costs and the planning process so that you can make a more informed decision moving forward.

Providing a Quote

Following the initial meeting we will provide a quotation for the architectural work, once accepted we will then arrange a date for us to come and survey the site.

Sketch Design

Working closely with you Gostwick Architecture will then produce designs for your project this may include several design options in order to achieve the perfect design. Once the design is finalised and agreed upon, all the necessary drawings for a planning submission will be completed and the application will be submitted to the planners.

Planning

Following the submission of the planning application a decision will be due in 8 weeks time. Gostwick architecture will liaise with the planners and check on the progress of the scheme throughout this period. Read more…..

Working Drawings

Once planning has been achieved Gostwick Architecture will then produce the working drawings these are a higher level of detail than the planning drawings. These drawings are co-ordinated with external consultants and can be used for pricing and the Building Control Submission.

Tender

Using the working drawings above you will be able to Tender the project to builders Gostwick Architecture works with a number of builders and can do this on your behalf or you can find your own builders for the tender.

Construction

Once the finalised working drawings have been submitted to Building Control under a building notice the construction can begin.

On Site Queries

During the build process Gostwick Architecture will be on hand to answer any queries from site. In most cases there aren’t any queries as the working drawing package is highly detailed and provides more than enough detail to avoid any ambiguity.
